JIMMY LWANGILI
THE Police Force in the country has reminded the public to be cautious with online businesses following the increasing incidents of fraud and theft of money through internet.

The police have also urged traders to ensure that they ask for escort from the police or private security companies when transporting bulk cash and keep fingers closed to avoid theft by thugs.
The Police Force spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Ms Advera Bulimba, made a call in Dar es Salaam yesterday when speaking to reporters on various security issues.
“The number of people losing money through online business has increased because they are dealing with people who are not well known.
Many people have lost their money because they do online business without involving or consulting other people,” she said.
Bulimba further urged the public to inform the police immediately in case a person has lost money through online business.
The police through cyber crimes unit would track and identify the criminals and arrest them for further legal measures.
About transporting the bulk of cash, Ms Bulimba said the police investigation has revealed that the crime is caused by traderswho do not maintain secret when deciding to transport bulk cash.
She further advised traders to avoid transporting bulk cash and instead use mobile banking or banking transactions in order to reduce such incidents.
