THE Permanent Secretary (PS) in the President’s Office, Regional Administration, Local Government, Civil Service and Good Governance, Eng. Musa Iyombe, has assured civil servants of job security saying their rights are protected according to the law of the land.
He said the fifth government values its servants and that whenever there is a problem all measures are taken as stipulated in the law.
“I would like to assure all civil servants that everything is in order, there is no way the government could turn against its own servants,” he said.
Eng. Iyombe advised civil servants to confidently continue attending to their duties and avoid ‘cowardice discipline’.
“I would like civil servants to perform their duties diligently knowing that there are principles, regulations and laws that protect them,” he said.
Commenting on health service in various councils in the country, Eng. Iyombe said the government is assessing itself and setting strategies on how to offer quality and reliable services to people.
He said more than 1,900 dispensaries out of 7,000 are in bad shape and that the government is doing everything in its power to address the situation.
The PS said the government needs to set strong systems to enable things move forward.
“The problem here is not money, we have money but there is poor systems, we need to clear this and make sure every civil servant is attending his/her duties in an orderly form,” said the PS.
“Some officials fail to implement development projects or keep things moving as required while they have public fund in their accounts, the government is taking serious measures to such officials,” he said.
He said more than 960 servants have been suspended for various reasons including poor performance in their areas.
According to Eng. Iyombe, the best strategy to improve the situation is to set strong system that will enable every civil servant to perform his/her duties effectively.
“We are working hard to improve working environment so that our experts could expose their skills and creativity,” said Eng. Iyombe.
