TANAPA received intelligence reports on
May 11 that one Ngarenanyuki resident in Arumeru District, Emmanuel
Nassari (46), a pastor at TAG Church, was looking for someone to buy an
elephant tusk.
“Following the intelligence report,
TANAPA communicated with the special task force to assist in
investigations of the matter,” a statement from the authority noted.
The special task force conducted
investigations and managed to apprehend Nassari on May 15 in possession
of the elephant tusk. It was after the interrogation, when Shayo was
implicated, leading to his arrest on the following day (May 16).
TANAPA has called on the public to
continue providing information and tips to reveal poachers and
facilitate their arrest and prosecution.
