TANZANIA
Telecommunication Corporation Limited (TTCL) is set to embark on
country-wide campaigns, in form of the entertainment concert, from 31th
of the next week, aimed at extending its services to all Tanzanians,
especially in rural areas.
Katavi Region will be the first campaign
beneficiary, following Rukwa and Kigoma regions, said the Corporation
Director General, Mr Waziri Kindaba yesterday in Dar es Salaam.
The Corporate boss admitted that, earlier,
TTCL faced lot of challenges including very limited coverage, scarcity
of air time vouchers while its simcards were only functioning in smart
phones.
“All those problems have already been
solved. Sim cards are now compatible with any kind of the gadget and our
partners will be part of the festival, offering among others,
affordable mobile phones. We want every Tanzanian to be connected with
the world through our services,” he said, adding that: Themed “Rudi
nyumban iKumenoga” the festival will be accompanied by the artists,
namely Ms Zena Mohamed, commonly known as Shilole and Mr Aslay Isiaka,
also known as Dogo Asley.
Entry fee will be the registered TTCL sim
card. The Corporate signed the contract of the agreement with the artist
Ms Shilole with the latter (Shilole) assuring to obey and respect the
agreement.
The DG stressed that all TTCL sim cards
are free, warning that whoever found selling them will face stern legal
punishments. Having visited all regions- Tanzanian Main Land and
Zanzibar, an exercise which is scheduled to take not less than three
months, the next session will be visiting every District, according to
Mr Kindamba.
“It is step by step, from regional to Ward
level. We want every Tanzanian to retain the trust with this State
communication Corporation as it is for everybody regardless neither
her/his financial status nor location or distance. Every kind of service
will be available during the concert,” he stressed.
