Tatu Mzuka says ‘No’ to 150m/- ‘win’

THE Network (Tatu Mzuka) Limited has disowned businessman Remmidius Mutembei as the winner of 150m/- he allegedly won in a lottery styled as Tatu Mzuka conducted late last year.

In its written statement of defence filed before the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s C

ourt in Dar es Salaam recently by Shikana Law Group, the company, which is a defendant in the suit, has refuted to have declared Mr Mutembei winner of Tatu Mzuka jackpot draw.

Mr Mutembei has sued the defendant for refusing to give him the money. He is requesting to be declared the rightful winner of the lottery Tatu Mzuka conducted on November 24, 2017.

He further seeks permanent injunctive order to retrain the defendant from further unlawful lottery activities.

“The defendant avers that the plaintiff has ever been declared winner of Tatu Mzuka jackpot draw.

Similarly, no Tatu Mzuka draw worth 150m/- was played on November 24, 2017 nor was the plaintiff called live on television nor his name posted as winner,” reads part of the written statement of defence.

In the plaint of the suit, the plaintiff states that on November 23, 2017, at around 8.40 pm upon participation in the draw, he received a message, showing, “Hongera! Namba zako 758 zimeingia kwenye Tatu Mzuka droo ya 21:00 unaweza kushinda 100,000/-.

Ticket yako ni XEDFQK. Kila la kheri.” This translates as: “Congratulations! Your 758 numbers have entered the Tatu Mzuka draw for 21;00 you can win 100,000/-.

Your ticket is XEDFQK. Best wishes”. The plaintiff claims that on the same date at around 21:03 pm, he received another message from the defendant showing, “766 ndiyo namba zilizoshinda droo 31.00. Rafiki namba za 758 zinalingana na namba 1.

Unaweza kushinda katika droo inayofuata.” This literally means: “766 are numbers that won draw 31:00. Friend numbers 758 match with number 1. You can win in the next draw.”

It is alleged that on Friday of November 24, 2017 at 11.00 am, the plaintiff received yet another message that read: “Remmidius amebeba 150m/- na kuvunja record ya 110m/- za Neuron aliyempiku Rashid Mil. 80. Zamu yako sasa Marrieta 6m/- kila saa, Mil 60 Jpili, 500m Dec”.
