Tanzania, Uganda savour Joint Permanent Commissions success

TANZANIA and Uganda have gained great success in the Joint Permanent Commissions (JPC), which took place in Arusha in April, 2017 and the ongoing meeting in Kampala, Uganda.
Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr Augustine Mahiga and his Ugandan counterpart, Sam Kutesa said during the opening of JPC in Kampala that the two countries have benefited from the JPC.

Among the successes mentioned by the two Ministers include the signing of nine agreements, which comprise the construction of natural gas pipeline from Dar es Salaam to Uganda as well as cooperation in Education and trainings, which were signed yesterday during the JPC in Kampala.
The Ministers informed the public that the signed agreements have been implemented well by both sides. They said the implementation of the agreements is aimed at speeding economic growth, which is in line with President John Magufuli and his Ugandan Counterpart, Yoweri Museveni’s ambitions, which is to boost trade and economy among the two countries.
The signed agreements include developing infrastructure, which comprise roads especially at borders, electricity supply, railway line, ports and air transportation. Following such agreements, various projects have been implemented and some of them are on different implementation stages including Kikagati/ Murongo power generation, which is set to be completed in 2020.
Moreover, Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL)is set to launch its direct flight from Dar es Salaam to Entebbe at the end of August following the signing of an agreement on air transportation in April, this year, in Arusha.
