President Uhuru Kenyatta has said he will not interfere with the
ongoing corruption purge, saying his brother Muhoho Kenyatta will have
to carry his own cross if implicated.
Speaking at an
economic summit organised by the American Chamber of Commerce at the UN
in Gigiri Thursday, the president said he had full confidence in
anti-graft agencies and will not hinder their work.
"I
have been quiet all this time because I have full confidence in
institutions. Let's not politicise this fight," he said, saying his
younger brother will face the law if found guilty.
His
comments come after Protech Investments Company, a firm where Mr Muhoho
is a director, was named in parliament among more than 100 being
investigated for illegally flooding the market with duty-free sugar
imports.
The president said the fight against corruption was not about
him but Kenyans and businesses that have lost out on opportunities.
"People were there bashing my brother yesterday...If he is guilty and I say, let them charge him," he said.
