MORE than 60 million people in China have been lifted out of poverty in the past five years since the President Xi Jinping assumed office in 2012 and during the same period, an average of over 13 million urban jobs were created annually.
Addressing the 19th National Congress
opened here on Wednesday the president unveiled the achievement of the
five years of his government said The Communist Party of China has vowed
to satisfy the people’s desire for “a better life”.
The Chinese leader says his government
was able to surmount prevailing social and political challenges and
steadily began to improve the people’s living standards. “We have been
made in the fight against poverty.
More than 60 million people have been
lifted out of poverty and poverty ratio has dropped from 10.2 percent to
less than 4 percent,” noted President Xi . He said his country will
ensure that by the year 2020 all rural residents living below the
current poverty line will have been out of poverty and that poverty is
eliminated in all poor counties and regions.
Xi said, for years to come, the Party
vows to develop socialist democracy, strengthen cultural soft power,
continue to build a beautiful China, improve the people’s well-being and
develop new approaches to social governance.
In terms of employment, Xi disclosed
that employment registered steady growth with an average of over 13
million urban jobs created each year. He added that growth of urban and
rural personal income has outpaced economic growth and the middle-income
group has been expanding
