BETRAM LENGAMA
ON its 87th anniversary of its national day this week, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has assured Tanzania of its continued support through constant coordination of development efforts between them.

Mohammed Al-Malik, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia to Tanzania, reiterated his country’s pledge last Wednesday night in Dar es Salaam at the commemoration of the kingdom’s National Day.
The envoy disclosed that Saudi Arabia would always look forward to further economic cooperation with Tanzania and increased economic partnership, particularly in the energy, manufacturing and agriculture sectors, all for mutual and common interest.
He said his country had always remained ‘keen’ on extending valuable assistance to Tanzania in various fields, such as infrastructure development -- building roads, water supply, health and education, as well as general support to efforts aimed at poverty alleviation and refugee relief work.
He added that the two countries were linked by friendly historic ties based on a “spirit of understanding and mutual respect of each other. And, within the framework of such bilateral relationship, the two nations signed a bilateral agreement last year covering various economic, trade, investment sectors, youth and sports cooperation.
On his part, the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Prof Jumanne Maghembe, who was the guest of honour, hailed the royal Kingdom for its remarkable achievements to-date -- in particular, for its commitment to regional stability and quest for prosperity not just for Saudi Arabia but also across the globe, notably Tanzania.
Prof Maghembe also acknowledged Saudi development funding in the constructions of rural roads, rehabilitation of hospitals and ex pansion of water and sanitation projects that have had positive impacts on the livelihoods of Tanzanians.
The minister also assured the Saudi envoy of this country’s undertaking to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries. On September 23 every year, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia established in 1932 by its founder, King Abdul Aziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud.
