The best 10 ICT students, who
were selected to join the second phase of the Seeds for the Future
program from Tanzania, have started their first leg of their study trip
in Beijing, China.
Apart from having a well
designated cultural training that have started this Monday, the
...
Tanzanian’s university students had an opportunity to visit various
tourist attractions in the Beijing Capital such as Forbidden City and
Great Wall and experience Chinese traditional and cultural things.
During their trip in Beijing,
students also have started their language and cultural training program,
the session will be one of its kind designated to help them learn more
about Chinese culture and gain cross-cultural work experience in a
global business environment.
Speaking during the tour at the
Great Wall of China, one of the students Ms Inviolata Rimisho, student
from University of Dodoma (UDOM) said it was a really great experience
to climb up the Great Wall. Despite the high temperatures and the large
crowd students enjoyed the day.
She said the Great Wall of China
is one of the greatest sights in the world. It’s an ancient defensive
architecture in the Chinese kingdom.
“This historic preservation of a
country like the Great Wall tells the story of its past and make the
country distinct from other countries. I would like to urge Tanzania to
a preserve well the physical reminders of our past because they create a
sense of place and a country’s pride. They also provide economic
benefit through tourist activities,” she said.
Historically, the Great Wall of
China is a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth,
wood and other materials, generally built along an east-to-west line
across the historical northern borders of China to protect the Chinese
states and empires against the raids and invasions of the various
nomadic groups of the Eurasian Steppe.
Ms Rimisho said through this
training opportunity they had received, they will learn more about the
culture and experience traditional culture of the Chinese people as well
as to get knowledge from the advanced world while they are in Shenzhen
at Huawei headquarter.
Another UDOM student, Mr Anatory
Mcharo said “I am one of the participants of the 2017 ‘Seeds for the
Future’ program and on my first day I visited the Forbidden City. It was
extremely great to visit the Forbidden City, as our tour guide provided
us with information on it.
He said that this city is a China
museum of the Imperial Royal Palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties
which was built in 1420 AD about 600 years ago, after being home to
twenty-four emperors, fourteen of the Ming Dynasty and ten of the Qing
Dynasty, the Forbidden City ceased to be the political Centre of China
in 1912 and it was declared a world cultural heritage by UNESCO in 1987.
“It was very interesting to walk through the Forbidden City. It was really crowded but I enjoyed the visit as I saw various building, structures and artifacts of 600 years ago being nicely and clearly visible,” he said.

Mcharo further said that the
preservation of cultural heritage is a challenge in many part of the
world but here in china they saw a very unique attitude in preservation
the cultural heritage.
“Despite various challenges the
Forbidden City encountered from when it was started to be used as a
museum which include Japanese invasion, destruction of the throne in the
Harmony hall, the Chinese authority has with greater success preserved
this cultural heritage,” he said.
Adding “I would like to urge my
beloved country Tanzania to impart such an altitude to its authorities
in order to preserve our cultural heritage for the benefit of present
and future generation.”
Through the Seeds for the Future
program, each year Huawei provide opportunity for Tanzania students to
explore all beautiful Chinese palatial architecture and through this it
