Recruitment body nets fake certificates

Minister of State in the President’s Office - Public Service Management and Good Governance - Ms Angela Kairuki
THE Public Service R e c r u i t m e n t Secretariat has collected a total of 1,008 fake academic certificates from public service job seekers. The Deputy Secretary of the Quality and Control Department, Mr Humphrey Mniachi, made the revelation in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

Mr Mniachi said the use of forged certificates is a national crisis since the majority of job seekers use them. “The certificates (1,008 fake academic certificates) were collected within the six years of the Secretariat,” he said and commended the government’s move to crack down on the rampant use of fake certificates in public service.
Mr Mniachi said the people behind the fake certificates were taken on hold and their certificates blacklisted in the public service.
Meanwhile, the Secretariat has insisted that new employment opportunities in the public service were still on hold pending the accomplishment of a plan to get rid of ghost workers in the government’s payroll.
The Secretary of the Secretariat, Mr Xavier Daudi, said this in Dar es Salaam yesterday, calling on the stakeholders and job seekers to be calm. Mr Daudi was speaking when reacting over fake information circulating in the social media since last Thursday claiming that the secretariat has announced 1,000 new job opportunities.
He called on the public to ignore the information as the secretariat and other concerned bodies launch a manhunt on the suspects behind the bogus information meant to tarnish the image of the secretariat and the government.
“Let me take this opportunity to assure our esteemed stakeholders that we are searching for the suspected culprits to ensure they get severely punished for ther disturbances they have caused,” he said.
Displaying the malicious information before the press, Mr Daudi said the secretariat has received many calls from the job seekers and stakeholders who wanted more information concerning the announced jobs after they saw the false announcement in the social media.
