Minister for Education, Science,
Technology and Vocational Training Minister Prof Joyce Ndalichako
explained yesterday in Dar es Salaam that the plan will help decongest
demands for VETA in areas facing no-vocational training centres.
“We will work with private sector to
introduce small-scale specialized centres that costs less than 1bil/-.
Establishment of full-fledged vocational trainings are very expensive
costing at least 9bil/-,” she said.
The plan, according to the minister will
help reach more places lacking vocational training centres. She however
explained that the government is working on to speed up renovation of
various workshops to meet the current demand.
“VETA is empowering the community. More
Tanzanians are now self-employed due to knowledge and skills they gained
at the centres,” she said noting that there has been a good improvement
in innovations amongst various technology engineered by the authority.
Prof Ndalichako said the ministry will
work with the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH)
to market the new technologies invented by Tanzanians to help transform
the economy
