An ODM politician was on Tuesday night shot dead at the gate of his residence in Ruai, Nairobi.
Mr Stephen Odongo Mukabana, 42, was attacked as he waited for the gate to be opened at Alpha Court, Chokaa in Ruai, Kayole OCPD Ali Nuno said.
Mr Mukabana was confronted by six men, one armed with a pistol, who shot him on the head and stomach.
The attackers then stole his wallet containing an unknown amount of cash and his phone, leaving his Toyota Prado vehicle at the scene.
Police have arrested some suspects, including a Mr David Wainaina Njoroge, who are being detained for questioning.
Mr Mukabana, the ODM Nairobi youth leader, was also the chairman of Bamaho Youth Group, a land buying and selling company, in Njiru.
In the past, he has complained of not being recognised as the youth leader and last month he pushed for elections for the Nairobi County youth leadership.
COMMITTED ROBBERY
The gang that shot dead the ODM politician had earlier committed robbery in Kayole's Mihang'o area when they shot and critically injured a man and also robbed a businessman of Sh12,000.
Police said that the gang waylaid Mr Simon Ng’ang’a while he was delivering some electronic goods to Mr Joseph Mutahi. They also shot Mr David Ouma, 45, on the head, who was admitted to the Mama Lucy Hospital.
The gang also robbed them of the cash, mobile phones and ID cards.
From there, they proceeded to Chokaa where they killed the politician.
Elsewhere in Zimmerman, a businessman was shot dead at the gate of his employee.
Ms Frozy Kawira told the police that her employer, Mr John Waweru, was dropping her home at around 11pm when they were attacked at the gate by four armed men.
They shot him on the chest and was rushed to Neema Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
