TANZANIA Breweries Company (TBL) through its parent company SABMiller has announced steps to be taken to reduce emission of poisonous gases produced by its plants.

TBL Group Managing Director, Mr Roberto Jarrin, said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that for quite a long, the company has been supporting water sources preservation efforts and the process to ensure that available water benefits the surrounding communities.
“SABMiller, owns a number of alcohol and non-alcoholic beverage plants including Tanzania-based TBL Group is practically supporting the resolutions which are in line with company’s strategies to preserve the environment,” he said in a statement.
Conserving water sources is one of the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference resolutions held in Paris, France earlier this month.
Others include preventing forest destruction, better land uses which is also one of the company’s goals to build the world with work force which can responsibly make better land use.
Mr Jarrin said in implementing the goal, over 350 barley farmers have been benefiting through reliable market of their barley sold to the company which is one of TBL’s strategy to empower locals through buying their products.
The company proposal to support conference resolutions on climate change hints that, it has already taken some steps in reducing pollution resulted from gases produces in various stages of beer production.
The company has set a target to ensure that production is made without negative impact to the environment by 2020. This will involve reduction of harmful gases into the space in the areas it operates for 50 per cent and until now the target has been achieved by 35 per cent since its inception in 2008.
Despite the fact that, beer production does not produce a lot of harmful gases to the environment as it is in motor vehicles and oil production plants, SABMiller strongly supports the resolutions and would work to make a world a free environmental destruction zone.
As a matter of concern to the environment, the company has created online link to help to explain how climate changes affects company’s business and how can play a role in reducing the impact of climate change. He said SABMiller is one of the companies in the fore front in the fight against environmental destruction.
Apart from agreements and strategies established by the countries, big companies operating in various parts of the world with environmental protection policies were able to adopt the agreements to assist in the global climatic change fight which adversely affects the environment
