THE Deputy Minister of Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development, Ms Angelina Mabula has directed the Kinondoni land and housing council to refrain from leaving the office vacant by claiming that they are on leave as it reduces efficiency in handling cases.
Ms Mabula made the directives in Dar es
Salaam yesterday when she made a surprise visit at the Kinondoni land
and housing council and found only two out six staff in the office.
A Registry Officer, Ms Bahati Kassim who
was found in the office when asked she said that the Council had two
Chairmen one was on leave and the other had gone out for a site visit in
Mbezi and other staff members were on leave.
“Mr Yose Mlyambina is the one in charge
here but he has gone out for a site tour at Mbezi and currently we are
ones in office,” said Ms Kassim.
When asked the number of cases they have
received, she said in a period of July- December 2015 they had received
300 cases of which about 60 cases have been ruled out.
“I urge you to properly schedule your
leaves because the arrangement of work in this office is not well
organised,” said Ms Mabula.
She pointed out that the office cannot
expect to deliver efficiently if almost all the workers decide to go on
leave at the same time.
“If such a habit is sustained then we
will not be in a position to finish solving the cases of the people in
our societies,” she pointed out.
Kinondoni Municipality is leading by
having a big number of land disputes among all the three municipalities
in the region. “These cannot be solved if all the workers go on leave at
the same time while the back log of cases is still big in the office,”
she said.
The Deputy Minister implored the workers
to keep office documents including case files. “Make sure that the
files are properly stored and strengthen the security of the room that
stores the files at all the time,” noted the Deputy Minister.
