PRESIDENT, John Magufuli has directed that funds amounting to 4bn/- earlier allocated for the Independence Day celebrations on December 9 should be used for expansion of the Mwenge-Morocco road.

The construction work will see the stretch of the road expanded to five lanes from the current three and the money has been already been disbursed to Tanroads.
Last week, the Chief Secretary, Ombeni Sefue announced that this year there will be no official ceremony to celebrate the Independence anniversary and instead the public should engage in nation building work, including a nationwide cleaning campaign to check re-occurrence of filthy-borne diseases.
Ambassador Sefue noted then that the amount of money allocated for the celebrations will be channeled to other development projects. Meanwhile, Dr Magufuli yesterday met and held meeting at State House with former National Chairman of Civic United Front (CUF), Prof Ibrahim Lipumba.
During the talks, Prof Lipumba congratulated President Magufuli for being elected to the position and his excellent speech during the inauguration of the parliament in Dodoma recently.
