Gas investor supports Mtwara dispensary

An estimated 1.3 million people within the Mtwara region are expected to benefit from the improved health services. The BG Tanzania Head of Health, Safety Security and Environment (HSSE), Mr Stevenson Murray said BG Tanzania was working collaboratively with Mtwara Region and the St Mary’s Dispensary to provide needed support and interventions in various areas.

“Through our Social Investment programmes we are also undertaking long term interventions that are designed to support communities to address the key challenges they face in a sustainable manner.
This more comprehensive long term approach means we are contributing to addressing some of the underlying causes that trigger emergency situations,” he said.
The funds will be used to support three main streams of development, namely, pre hospital care and ambulance service, emergency care and resuscitation unit and capacity building to manage common medical emergencies, trauma and snake bite management.
The company is working in partnership with the St Mary’s Dispensary to ensure that the funds will go towards emergency and health care initiatives to aid the entire community.
Mtwara District Commissioner Ms Fatma Salum Ally who represented the Regional Commissioner lauded the company for supporting the health care efforts of Mtwara. St Mary’s Dispensary Management said that the health care facilities will provide a platform for directly addressing health care needs by improving public health care in Mtwara.
The donation makes a contribution to raising the health status of the community by rehabilitating health care facilities and providing basic equipment. “We have a strong monitoring and evaluation unit which will be instrumental in ensuring efficient and effective implementation and use of the equipment,” said Sr Raphaela Handler, Head of St Mary’s Dispensary and Mtwara.
BG Tanzania is committed to cultivating sustainable relationship with the host communities. Social investment programmes are delivered through active partnerships with expert organisations and by working with Government and communities to identify areas of priority and shared interest.
