The late Kabete Member of Parliament George Muchai was the top trending search on Google in February in Kenya.
Mr Muchai was shot dead by unknown assailants together with his driver and two bodyguards on Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi.
Other
Kenyans whose names appeared among the top searches in the same month
include Citizen TV reporter Jackie Maribe and former head of the civil
service Francis Muthaura.
Ms Maribe was the talk of the town after rumours went round about her relationship with Erick Omondi, a popular comedian.
Mr Muthaura’s name was also among top searches probably after speculations went round about his ill health.
NO LONGER MARRIED
There was also interest in Linda Muthama after she confirmed that she was no longer married to Walter Mong’are.
Samwel Kipkemoi Sang, aka Junior Kotestes, a renowned singer who passed away after a pneumonia attack also trended during the month.
President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe sent Kenyans online after he fell down the steps
from a podium upon his return from an African Union summit in Addis
Ababa, Ethiopia, leading to the creation of numerous memes. The term
‘Mugabe falls’ was among the top searches.
Bobbi Kristina Brown,
daughter of American music stars Bobby Brown and the late Whitney
Houston, ranked number two as Kenyans wanted to know about her health
condition, which has put her in a coma for more than a month now.
February
is considered the month of love and Valentine's Day didn’t escape the
search list. It emerged the third trending search, and some of the
searches related to this day were: Valentine's messages, Valentine's
quotes, gifts, travel destinations and dating sites.
Kenyans' love for football remained steadfast with the search for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) coming at number 10.
