In Summary
Muleba. Only a day after President Jakaya
Kikwete sacked Prof Anna Tibaijuka, the latter told her Muleba South
voters that they didn’t elect her a minister, but their efficient
representative in parliament.
The then minister for Lands, Housing and Human
Settlements Development, Prof Tibaijuka was stripped of her status after
her moral conduct in relation to the Tegeta escrow account saga money
was put to question, whereby she received over Sh1.6 billion.
“The Lord has given; the Lord has taken away;
blessed be the Lord’s name,” said Prof Tibaijuka meaning the one who
gave her the ministerial post is the one who took it away.
In what she described as her intention to defend
her seat in 2015 General Election, Prof Tibaijuka warned her political
rivals saying that she was still the voters’ best choice. She thanked
her voters for electing her their MP, a status she said opened for her
the door to the ministerial job.“You must put into consideration that
you elected me to serve you as an MP, not as a minister, therefore, let
bygones be bygones as escrow scandal is already buried now,” she told
residents of Muleba.
However, Prof Tibaijuka said she was ready to
collaborate closely with local leaders from opposition parties elected
in the just ended civic polls believing that the areas under them also
have some CCM members living there.
She said she was still committed to educate
children from poor families and introduced a girl named Safina as one of
those she has been supporting in her education.
