In Summary
Precision Air Service was first added to the Iosa registry in 2007, after an audit conducted in 2006. Since then, it has renewed its registration four times — in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Dar es Salaam. The International Air Transport Association (Iata) has once again certified Precision Air’s operational management and control systems.
That means Tanzania’s only publicly-listed airline is run in line with global standards.
The Dar es Salaam-based company said in a statement yesterday that it has renewed its Iata Operational Safety Audit (Iosa) registration effective September 23, 2014.
“Renewing the Iosa registration certification means that Precision Air has been found to be able to maintain Iata operational safety standards which are internationally recognised,” the airline’s head of quality and safety, Mr Allen Sharra, said in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
Precision Air Service was first added to the Iosa registry in 2007, after an audit conducted in 2006. Since then, it has renewed its registration four times — in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. The current registration will be valid until September 22, 2016 after which the company will undergo another safety audit.
It has renewed the registration after undergoing an extensive safety audit which is usually conducted every two years. The Iosa programme is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of airlines and it is mandatory for membership of Iata. Data posted on the Iata website indicate that the total accident rate for Iosa carriers in 2012 was 77 per cent, lower than the rate for non-Iosa operators.
With such a reputation, Iosa has become a global standard, recognised beyond Iata membership.
