Women to also close business deals while on trip
Kampala- Twenty Ugandan women entrepreneurs have travelled to Netherlands to participate in a week long business networking trip.
The trip, funded by the Netherlands Enterprise
Agency and implemented in partnership with the Uganda Investment
Authority(UIA), Uganda Entrepreneurs’ Association Ltd, dfcu Bank and
Agri-ProFocus Uganda, aims at capacity building, market access for local
produce, venture capital, among other things.
While seeing off the participants on Tuesday in
Kampala, the Netherlands Ambassador to Uganda, Mr Alphons Hennekens,
said the programme will equip women entrepreneurs with innovation and
business sustainability skills to reduce gender imparity and poverty.

He said during their stay in Netherlands, the women will be able to close deals since they already have business plans and proposals.

“The programme includes an intensive process of
business development and innovation based on a combination of training,
matchmaking, technical support and trade mission,” Mr Hennekens said,
adding, “It (programme) gives a boost to the national and international
development of the women entrepreneurs and links them to businesses in
Netherlands and Europe,”.
Ms Barbara Asiimwe, the head of Women in Business
dfcu Bank, said: “The programme is a deal for women entrepreneurs, no
matter their experience in business; it offers new lessons.
