The third East African Human Resource Summit will be held in Dar es Salaam today with the theme “Transforming Human Resource: Moving from reactive to proactive.”

The meeting is expected to attract more than 200 top chief executives and human resource professionals from across Africa, the bulk of them from host Tanzania.

The event director Phylisiah Mcheni said yesterday that “time is ripe for Tanzania to lead the East African economies as it has the greatest potential among East African Community member states. What is needed for this great nation was becoming more proactive.”

“Priorities, plans and economic realities are changing across every business sector. The human resource department is becoming more vital every day in determining the productivity and profitability of businesses,” Mcheni said.

The summit two-day summit will be held at the Kunduchi Beach Hotel in Dar es Salaam, and will offer the perfect blend of networking, education and technological solutions for issues facing human resource professionals today and in the future.

“This summit will assist human resource professionals to transform and proactively reposition to meet the needs of their organisations. It will enable you to share ideas with industry leaders and professional colleagues across the country,” she said.

The Summit seeks to build Tanzania as a home of world-class human resource professionals greatly contributing into the overall growth of the country’s economic development.

The human resource summit is an annual event organised and co-ordinated by IRIS Executive Development Centre, a development institution whose purpose is to help businesses transform their workplaces in to centres of excellence. This is done through shaping thinking, leading practice and building capability.

The Summit highlights will include specially designed workshops with industry experts providing an in-depth look at the topics and issues of importance in human resource, complimentary breakfast master classes facilitated by world renowned industry experts, panel debates and discussions, and a cocktail event – `Let’s celebrate our achievements.’
