In the new campaign, a user purchasing Sh20 worth
of airtime through yuCash, for instance, will earn a bonus of Sh40,
bringing the top-up to a total Sh60.

Latest data from the Communications Commission of
Kenya (CCK) indicates that mobile money subscriptions rose 9.4 per cent
in the three months to December 2012 to hit 21.14 million.
Although the CCK does not provider operator
specific data, in 2011 the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), indicated that
Safaricom’s M-Pesa dominates the mobile money sector.
Value added services, such as mobile money, have
been hailed as the next big revenue stream in the telecom sector as
income from mobile money begin to flatten out.
The CCK data shows Orange, yuMobile have lost ground to the market leader, Safaricom, in the voice segment.
