TANZANIAN'S name has continued to radiate in Algeria after being accorded the privilege of officiating as guest of honour at the launch of the international construction, real estate and public works exhibition known as Bati-Est Expo 2026, in Constantine, Algeria.

The Tanzanian Ambassador to Algeria, Mobhare Matinyi, represented Tanzania at the ninth edition of the three-day event, which opened on October 14, 2026, alongside the Governor of Constantine, Kerbouch Kamel, at the official opening ceremony.

Addressing the Algeria Press Service (APS), Ambassador Matinyi used the backdrop of the international event to extend an invitation to investors and entrepreneurs from the Algerian construction sector to Tanzania, highlighting the strong bilateral ties between the two countries and the various opportunities available in Tanzania.

"The construction sector in Tanzania contributes about 13 percent of the gross domestic product, and grows at an average of 10 percent per year," noted Ambassador Matinyi, while emphasising that Tanzania remains a friendly country for investors and entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, Ambassador Matinyi asserted that Tanzania currently has numerous ongoing construction projects, and is strategically located where the eastern, central, and southern regions of Africa meet, while being a member state of the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), thus being a natural hub for regional trade.

“Relevantly, as in other crucial sectors, President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has placed special focus on expanding investment opportunities

in the construction industry, which is currently witnessing a significant boom, and consequently, increased inward direct capital injection,” noted the ambassador.

He further added that, recognizing the industry’s strength factor in diversifying the economy, the President has spearheaded Tanzanian’s investment potential both in Africa and beyond, and in the process opened doors to major strides in the sector.

Accordingly, the ambassador pointed out, there are currently strategic development projects under implementation around the country, which include the construction and expansion of ports and airports, the standard gauge railway connecting neighbouring countries, the nationwide road network, residential buildings, hospitals, schools, sports stadiums as well as water and power projects.

Along the same line, the ambassador pointed to projects currently under implementation in general in the country, which include the construction and expansion of ports and airports, the standard gauge railway connecting neighbouring countries, the nationwide road network, residential buildings, essential services facilities such as hospitals and schools, hotels, sports stadiums as well as water and power projects.

Ambassador Matinyi also added that apart from these major strategic projects, the government is moving at pace in the development and expansion of the capital city, Dodoma, which will have the fourth international airport in Tanzania after the ones in Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar.

Additionally, the Embassy held talks with several firms that showed interest in exploring investment opportunities in Tanzania as well as partnerships in producing and exporting building materials, participating in construction projects, and importation of raw materials from Tanzania.

Some of the companies include ERCM Salhi, a steel construction company; Mirage Landmark, which specialises in residential apartments; modern security door manufacturers DEI and Fhaima; paint manufacturers ENAP, Julex Color, and Semin Algerie; steel fencing firm Atom Metal; and artificial turf manufacturer Golden Grass.

The exhibition, which was organised by Sunflower Communication, hosted 167 exhibitors, mostly from Algeria, as well as others from Turkey, Germany, the United Kingdom, Tunisia, and Egypt.

Prior to officiating at the Constantine exhibition, on October 13, 2026 Ambassador Matinyi visited the fourth International Investment and Technology in Agriculture Expo in Annaba, also known as Agritech Expo Annaba 2026, where he also held meetings with Algerian companies interested in investing and doing business in and with Tanzania.

These firms included fertilizer manufacturers New Fertilizers and Agrosafia; Biotec-in, which specialises in animal nutrition, health, and reproduction; Alviar, which expressed interest in importing cattle from Tanzania; and Giplait, which manufactures dairy products. Others were Weetel Water, which utilises air moisture to produce water; Treox and Aquaox, which use salt and electricity to purify water; and Chadian cashew nut processor Sofood Sogood.

This fourth edition of the expo, held from October 13-15, 2026, was organised by Incop Communication and Event Management, and featured 117 exhibitors from Algeria and several other foreign countries.
