Tanzania appreciates Ireland’s 110m Euros funding in its major projects

its contribution to Tanzania’s development through a five-year Development Cooperation Programme (2022–2026).

Millya said that under the programme, Ireland has provided Tanzania with development assistance totaling 110m Euros, which has been directed toward supporting various key sectors in the country.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Christopher O’Sullivan TD, Ireland’s Minister of State in the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, responsible for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity.

According to Millya, the funding has supported several critical sectors, including health, women’s economic empowerment, and the promotion of gender equality. It has also contributed to the education sector through scholarship support, as well as environmental conservation initiatives and efforts to address climate change.

During the discussions, Minister O’Sullivan pledged to continue promoting Tanzania in Ireland as a peaceful and stable country, with the aim of encouraging Irish tourists, businesspeople, and investors to visit and invest in Tanzania.

Both sides also agreed to further strengthen cooperation in key priority sectors, support each other in international elections, and continue high-level exchange visits between leaders of the two countries.

Minister O’Sullivan is currently in Tanzania on a three-day official visit, which began on March 10 and is expected to conclude on March 12, 2026.
