Airtel Tanzania continues to support the development and operation of the media industry in the country with the recent sponsorship to the two-day National
Conference on the Development of the Information Sector that was graced by H.E President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan as the guest of honor.During the conference held in Dar es Salaam, President Samia hailed the media for its active role in informing the public on the state of development in the country.
“The media does a great job to inform, educate, and awaken the society on important affairs. it’s through them, that the government gets to know and collect public opinions on varieties of issues. This industry inspires the acquisition of new skills and technological development for the prosperity of our societies. The media also contributes to building accountability within the public sector,” she said.
The Corporate Communications Director at Airtel Tanzania, Beatrice Singano, detailed that the media is a vital sector that continues to immensely contribute to the development of the telecommunications sector and harness the power of technology through digital platforms.
“The media is a key player that assists in nurturing growth and development of different sector. It is a sector with the role to not only update the public on our products that are designed to foster development and financial inclusion but also, it alerts on the trends in this sector at a global level,” she explained.
She further added “We recently launched our flagship project dubbed the Airtel SMARTWASOMI which is designed to elevate digital in secondary schools. it would have been impossible to reach out to many schools as we did if it was not for the media industry. We will continue support the media sector in the best way we can.”
Singano further remarked that Airtel Tanzania is committed to enhance and secure connectivity following the recent activation of the 2Africa Submarine Cable System, which is set to be a gamechanger in the country, offering reliable data connectivity.
