DODOMA: Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has instructed Regional Commissioners, councils and education quality controllers countrywide to monitor all children who dropped out of school and ensure they resume classes as soon as possible.
He made the statement earlier on Thursday at the ongoing parliamentary session in Dodoma emphasising the government’s goal and determination is to see about 95 per cent of children complete their primary and secondary education.

The instructions came following a question from a Skonge MP, Joseph Kakunda who sought to know the government’s strategies in controlling the problem of children dropping out of school in the country.
The government’s efforts to ensure that all children get access to education took a new phase in 2016 as the Late President, John Magufuli introduced free fee education in all government schools from primary to form four.

As the move was praised by citizens and gave room to all parents of different classes to take their children to school, President Samia Suluhu Hassan after taking the Presidency extended the free education to the level of form six. A massive decision that increased the number of both primary and secondary school graduates.
However, as the number of scholars increased, President Samia removed the fear of citizens over the availability of classrooms and teachers by constructing more classrooms countywide as well as recruiting more teachers.
