DAR ES SALAAM: BARRICK Gold in collaboration with Nos Vies en Partage (NVeP) has donated 20,000 US dollars (over 51m/-) to Mwangaza OMCW and Martha Onesmo Public Library to address education and health challenges in the communities living in difficult conditions.
Barrick Gold Country Manager Melkiory Ngido said every quarter, the NVeP has been providing direct and productive assistance to the needy communities in the country.
“We have so far assisted over 15 organisations in the country through NVeP and in this respect, Mwangaza OMCW in Dar es Salaam and Martha Onesmo Public Library have been given 10,000 US dollars each,” he said.
Part of the funds was released by NVeP, the institution established and funded by Barrick Gold Corporation president and Chief Executive Officer Mark Bristow to help special groups including women, children and others who do not benefit from Africa’s economic growth.
Mwangaza OMCW Tanzania is a Dar es Salaam-based non-governmental organisation dealing with empowering mothers and children in health, economic, education and family matters while Martha Onesmo Library is a public library located in Msangeni, Ugweno area in Mwanga District, Kilimanjaro Region launched early this year.
Speaking after receiving the assistance, the founder of Martha Onesmo Public Library, Jennifer Dickson thanked NVeP, saying it will improve and modernise services at this library to cope with changes in science and technology in the world.
The Chairperson of Mwangaza OMCW Marshalo Chikoleka thanked NVeP and that the assistance will help in improving mother and child health services through good nutrition, education and empowering women economically.
