DAR ES SALAAM: Tanzania has signed a 286bn/- contract with China Railway Construction Engineering Group Limited (CRCEG) and Research Institute Corporation Limited for the construction of the proposed Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium in Arusha region.
The signing ceremony has been held at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports Dr Damas Ndumbaro says among others, the venue will also be used to host 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
He adds that the facility will have two VIP Sections in both sides one to be accommodated by government officials while the other will be reserved for corporates.
Also, the minister says the modern stadium will have capacity to accommodate 30,000 people and that it will have offices, halls, museum and other facilities.
“We want it to be running on daily basis and not during matches only,” he says.
Moreover, Ndumbaro says President Samia will be the second head of state to build such a magnificent stadium after the late third term President Benjamin Mkapa who built Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
