TANZANIA: MANY global companies venturing in tourism have showcased their
interest to invest on accommodation, transports and promotion in Tanzania, the Minister for Tourism and Natural Resource, Ms Angellah Kairuki said.Ms Kairuki recently during the International Tourism Boerse (ITB), a travel and tourism exhibition which was held in Germany said she was pleased with readiness showcased by the global companies for investing in the country.
“I was impressed to meet with the TUI Group which is based in Germany possessing over 400 hotels across the world, with 16 cruise ships, five airlines and over 1200 logistics companies,” she said.
Ms Kairuki added that the company has already invested in Zanzibar and coming June this year it will launch a ninth hotel in Tanzania Mainland.
“The company is keeping on diversifying its flying routes to bring more tourists in Tanzania’s game reserves and national parks,” she said.
Furthermore, Ms Kairuki met another company based in US which transport over 1.2 million tourists globally which also showcased interest from which by May 2024, it will bring 40 tourist agencies who will visit various areas in the country.
In another development, she had a discussion on the best ways to promote Tanzania’s tourism including through televised programme with the Expedia Group, an international tourist company.
For his part, Tanzania Tourist Board’s (TTB) General Director, Mr Damas Mfugale said the ITB acted as the platform for attracting foreign tourists and development of the country’s tourism at large.
ITB is the leading Business to Business (B2B) international platform for the tourism industry which brings various companies under the sector venturing in hotels, tourist boards, tour operators, system providers, airlines and car rental companies.
