In a bid to enhance financial literacy in Africa household, Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential Plc, has entered into partnership with JA Africa, one of the largest and most-impactful youth-serving NGOs in Africa, to launch Cha-Ching Money Show.
The show, which is a TV series aimed at instilling financial habits and promoting financial responsibility among millions of children across Africa, would be hosted by Adanna and Emeka .
The TV show builds on Cha-Ching, an award-winning financial literacy and responsibility programme. Speaking at the premiere of the TV show at Ebony Life Cinema, on Saturday in Lagos, the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Prudential Zenith, Chuks Igumbor, said: Educating children on financial literacy is essential when forming reasonable money management practices and habits. That is why the Prudential Foundation, through Prudential Zenith Life and JA Nigeria, partnered to boost early financial literacy in kids to learn the value of money, how to set aside money for savings, and how to make wise financial decisions.
“Children can use the educational information provided by the show to their advantage as they get older and start taking care of their own finances.
Igumbor, who underscored the need for the programme and affirmed its organisation’s total support to boost financial literacy n the country said the Cha-Ching programme remained crucial as it would serve in helping kids become financially smart.
Commenting on the partnership, Simi Nwogugu, CEO of JA Africa, lauded Prudential Foundation for the initiative,nl saying it would inspire young African children to handle financial matters with prudence.
Nwogugu said: “Since 2016, JA has delivered Cha-Ching in Africa to over 13,000 young people in schools across Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda and Zambia in light of the ultimate goal to see as many students across Africa impacted by Cha-Ching.”
She said JA Africa and Prudence Foundation have partnered to bring the Cha-Ching programme from the classroom to TV through the
“Cha-Ching Money Show with Adanna and Emeka” which builds on the Cha-Ching Cartoon series with wraparound sessions.
