Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has sold 13 of the 17 aircraft on auction at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) with one selling for Ksh.5.1 million.

KAA issued a notice of the auction two weeks ago in some of its airports including JKIA, Wilson Airport, Moi International Airport and Lokichogio Airport.

KAA is expected to auction 73 aircraft it deems are unairworthy and that breach the safety measures of air operations.

Owners of the aircraft had been notified to clear outstanding bills in order to pick them up but failed to do so within the stipulated timelines.

Some of the aircraft facing the auctioneers hammer include Somali Airforce, Jetlink, Fly 540, Jubba Airways, Skyward, Astral Aviation, Silverstone among others.
