Staying fit as a fiddle while building wealth

Having strong and stable health is essential for all individuals, regardless of their social status. This is captured in the popular saying that goes, “Health is Wealth.” Irrespective of the job you

do, always make out time to go for regular check-ups, exercise and eat healthily.

Because of the nature of their jobs, many people find it very difficult to strike a work-life balance. Their main focus is to work super hard and get promoted, which is usually followed by a good salary. They forget the fact that the body works like a car, and like a car, the body needs proper care and maintenance. Just the way an engine of a car needs regular maintenance to keep it in running order and working at high RPMs, the same is true of the body.

Aside from employees, business owners are also faced with the same challenges when it comes to taking care of their health. Their main emphasis is to see their businesses flourish with little focus on their health. These workaholics forget that one has to stay healthy to be able to take their business to greater heights.

Staying healthy is important, as it will make individuals not only active but also productive, enabling them to excel and stand out in the workplace.

Below are things to do to stay healthy while building prosperity.

1. Always take care of yourself

Having good health should be your top priority, irrespective of how demanding your profession is. Keep in mind that if your health goes south, the workflow of the company will still continue.  You can start to mind your health more by engaging in physical activities that aid blood circulation and promote good health. You should also be mindful of what you consume. Fruits and vegetables are the way to go, especially as one grows older.

Because you spend more hours at your workplace and sit for long periods, it is advisable to engage in early morning exercise as this will help keep you mentally and physically fit. Exercise may seem difficult and exhausting but always remember, “no pain, no gain.” Maintain a healthy weight to avoid health problems that can get worse when combined with lack of exercise. Going for a spa treatment once in a while is also a good way to pamper yourself.

2. Getting a regular medical check-up

When it comes to taking care of your health, it is important to stay in touch with your doctor by always going for a periodic check-up. As you start getting older, some health issues might be imminent if not watched and controlled. Some of these ailments can be hereditary, for example, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, and cancer. This is why it is important to go for regular check-ups, as preventative care is another investment that pays off exponentially in the long run.

Going for a check-up regularly can be feasible if you have a carefully structured HMO plan.

3. Making time for family

Life nowadays seems to be all about the “24-7” cycle. Many people lack time for themselves and their families. The reason is that they wake up early when their children are still asleep (for married couples) and dash to work, only to return late when the children have gone to bed.

The best way to make it up to the family is by creating quality time at weekends, holidays, or when on leave from work. You can take your ‘crew’ to the cinema, amusement park, or the beach and vacation outside the country if you can afford it, as it helps in building the family bond.

During this period, you are not only having fun with your family but also calming the brain and nerves and this helps in no small way to improve your productivity on resumption at work

4. Have a social life

Life shouldn’t be all about work. It is important to create quality time for recreation. You can decide to engage in enjoyable activities, which could also involve your colleagues or friends. Examples would be workouts, sports activities or even a shopping splurge. There’s more! Going to the movies with friends, birthday parties, weddings, beach outings and even religious activities are great ways to unwind.

Companies can also decide to hold retreats for staff. A company retreat is particularly important for those who do not regularly interact with those outside of their departments. A retreat allows employees to interact with one another and improve their shared experiences and knowledge while getting to know one another better. This improved understanding could stimulate employees to strive towards common goals. Having a retreat once in a while could help to reduce stress, boost morale, settle conflicts, and help in identifying people’s hidden talents.

Bottomline

If you are healthy, you can earn wealth, but if you are wealthy and get struck by a deadly or chronic disease because you neglected your health, your wealth may bring you little joy. In today’s world of increasing pollution and global warming, people are becoming increasingly vulnerable to diseases, so keeping your health to support your wealth should be at the top of your annual bucket list.
