About 300 applicants who missed out on three-bedroom 80 square- metre low-cost houses in Ngara, Nairobi have been asked to place bids for the smaller units measuring 60 square metres.
The State Department for Housing said applicants will, however be required to top up their minimum deposits to Sh443,750 by January 20 to qualify.
There are 546 three-bedroom units of 60 square metres and another 260 of 80-square metres selling at Sh3.55 million and Sh4 million respectively.
“You can opt to apply for the three-bedroom 60 square meters units which are still available or wait for the next project or request for a refund,” read a notice to applicants last week.
In the event that an applicant is not satisfied with the new directive, they were to notify the State Department for Housing and Urban Development by January 6, 2020.
The Park Road project whose construction started in April 2019 is the first to be completed under the 500,000-unit Affordable Housing Programme.
