Kenya has confirmed 106 more cases of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing its total confirmed cases to 96,908.
The new cases come from the 3,315 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests since March to 1,059,006, the Ministry of Health said in a statement sent to newsrooms on Monday.
From the new cases, 97 are Kenyans while nine are foreigners; 77 are male while 29 are females.
The youngest patient is a nine-year-old child while the oldest is 70.
Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mutahi Kagwe said that 184 people have recovered from the virus, with 131 being from the home-based care programme while 53 were discharged from various hospitals. The total number of recoveries is 79,257.
In the last 24 hours, one patient succumbed to the virus bringing the number of fatalities to 1,686.
The ministry further said there are 617 patients admitted in various health facilities countywide while 2,964 are in home-based care.
Twenty- eight more patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 13 of whom are on ventilator support, 12 on supplemental oxygen and three are under observation.
Another 19 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen in general wards.
