Tech company Apple has rolled out two of its latest brand of smartphones in the Kenyan market, targeting the elite mobile phone users.

The iPhone 12 will retail at Sh115,970 ($1,040) while the iPhone 12 Pro has starting price of Sh165,034 ($1,480).

The smartphones come with a range of features like an advanced dual-camera system, and Super Retina XDR displays for a brighter, more immersive viewing experience.

Elite Digital Solutions business development manager Zafir Kurji said the new models come with risk insurance cover for damage or loss.

The firm is the local dealer for Apple mobile phones.

“The new iPhone 12 will be available with an all-risks cover against accidental loss or damage, and our customers will benefit from our authorised support centres across the East African region,” said Mr Kurji.

The new phones have a fifth-generation (5G) mobile internet services offering high-speed data download and upload speeds for users.

The 5G internet offers users browsing and download speeds of about 10 to 20 times faster than those of 4G, allowing consumers to download a high-definition video in a minute or so.

The roll-out of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models comes months after Samsung launched an enhanced version of the Galaxy Z Fold2 that has five cameras as global phone makers step up efforts to tap into the country’s smartphone market.
