No child should be sent home over fees, says CS Magoha
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on Monday asked parents with children in other classes to start preparing them for reopening in one or two-weeks time.
This comes as schools reopened today across the country, allowing grade 4, Class 8 and Form Four learners to resume learning for their second term.

While leading the inspection of school reopening at Nairobi Primary and Olympic Primary in the capital, the CS is advised parents to ready their other children for learning.
"The Ministry will observe the situation in one or two weeks, then we shall recall the other children," said Prof Magoha.
He also advised Kenyan parents not to be worried about their kids and stop negative thinking.
"Unless a child has a pre-existing condition, unnecessary school visits should be stopped," he said.
He asked parents with children with pre-existing conditions to inform schools.

As for schools, institutions could soon be required to compile bio-data of all learners should there be a spike in Covid-19 cases.
"As we open, schools will be required to compile bio-data of all children and should there be an emergency. Every teacher shall be a guardian," said Prof Magoha at Olympic Primary School in Kibera.
He also asked each school to form a Covid-19 committee and that co-curricular activities and assemblies be avoided.
"As our children come back to school they should be kept in a safe school environment," he said.
Prof Magoha also asked pregnant girls to resume learning.
School fees
For the boarding schools, the CS asked principals to ensure that no child is sent home because of school fees whether in private or public schools.
He also asked private schools offering online classes not to discriminate against some learners.
"All children will resume syllabus from where they left in March when schools closed," he said.
