ranking on Google Play Store.
Nokanda was built by Hexakomb Limited, a software development company in 2019. At first, it was designed only for the company’s staff to ease internal mobile money transactions until it was uploaded on Google store for the public upon users' requests.
The application has been receiving good reviews on social media for how user friendly and efficient it is.
Since September 2019, it has gained over 5000 users and on June 2, it gained #1 ranking on Google Play Store.
Ernest Kayinamura, founder and CEO of Hexakomb told The New Times that the company works in partnership with Airtel and MTN to frequently update it and make it user friendly.
“We have been receiving a lot of feedback from users on Google Store and social media and we have been working on complaints and suggestions,” he said.
Currently, the application can only be accessed by Rwandan phone numbers. Kayinamura says there are plans to expand to other countries where MTN and Airtel operate.
