Opposition leaders have
cited selfishness and greed as constraints to their efforts of winning
political positions during nationwide elections.
The
leaders from different political parties stated that Ugandan opposition
figures have exhibited greed by failing to form a united front against
the ruling National Resistance Movement-NRM party. Representatives from
the Alliance for National Transformation, the Democratic Party (DP) and
Justice Forum (JEEMA), among others, were speaking at the Busoga
Democratic Party-Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) reunion held at Kakindu
Stadium in Jinja on Wednesday.

Kassiano Wadri said Opposition hopefuls lost hope when The Democratic
Alliance (TDA) failed to front a single candidate adding that parties
should now work towards supporting one presidential candidate during the
2021 general elections.
"Ugandans are yearning for
change and everywhere you go, you find people saying we're ready but you
leaders in the poitical parties are letting us down.....I hope and pray
that this unity which we have started will yield fruits in this come
2021," he said.
Jinja East MP Paul Mwiru said that
serving as an opposition leader is a calling which requires all members
to selflessly merge their efforts for change rather than waiting for
particular individuals to take the lead.
"I don't want
you to look at Gen [Mugisha] Muntu, [Robert] Kyagulanyi or [Norbert]
Mao as your only liberators. We need to combine all our efforts,
including yours (voters) if we're to reach our objectives," he said.
