A group of women, under the Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited has started a
campaign to mobilise Shs20b to construct a Women Incubation Centre in Namanve, Mukono District.
The centre, whose mapping has already been completed, will support women initiatives by providing warehouse facilities, easy access to new and improved value addition services, food testing laboratory, access to legal services, skills training and business registration, among others.
While addressing journalists, Ms Angela Bageine, the Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited chairperson, said the initiative seeks to consolidate achievements so far reached as well as supporting other women entrepreneurs to take advantage of the current opportunities to better themselves.
The money, she said, will be mobilised from members’ contributions, well-wishers and development partners, who will collectively pursue women empowerment.
The Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited also appealed to East African Community leaders to reign in on the on-going trade conflicts across the region, pointing to the current impasse between Uganda and Rwanda.
Ms Connie Kekihembo, the Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited chief executive officer, said such conflicts must not be given an opportunity to persist, saying they have a negative effect on development and trade.
She said, Uganda and Rwanda must find a way to dialogue to resolve the now more than a week border impasse.

Currently, she said, they were assessing losses, especially that have been occasioned on various business women across the country.
IMPROVING CAPACITY
The Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited, which has actively been involved in promoting women business, is seeking to improve storage facilities and business capacity.
