The Federal High Court in Lagos on November 13 ordered the final forfeiture of the sums to the Federal Government.
In an EFCC fact sheet made available to The Guardian, the Commission
noted that sequel to investigation of unlawful activities of Heritage
Bank Plc., the said sums, proceeds of the banks unlawful activities,
were forfeited to the Federal Government.
According to the anti-graft agency, the funds were recovered and registered with the commission.
Also in a letter signed by the Chief Compliance Officer, Wumi Adeniyi
and the Head of Regulatory Compliance, Soridei Akene of Heritage Bank,
the institution informed EFCC that it has transferred the subject amount
to the Federal Government of Nigeria with bank draft “sterling bank
draft No 002640 for the sum of 327, 132. 35, Citibank draft No. 000068
for the sum of £167.85 and Citibank draft No. 000047 for the sum of
€157.90.
The
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the final
forfeiture of the sums of N1, 250,000,000; $327,132.35, £167.85 and
€157.91 it recovered to the Federal Government.
