AMERICA’S National Basketball Association’s (NBA) biggest star LeBron James with his charity, ‘The LeBron James Family Foundation’, has opened a new public School in Akron, Ohio State.
The new school called ‘I Promise School,’ will provide free education, uniforms, bicycles, helmets,
transport within two miles, breakfast, and lunch as well as snacks to all its students.
He said it will equally build them pantries where the students’ family members, would secure jobs to provide to the students, besides guaranteeing them further tuition to the University of Akron, once they excel. James, who recently left Cleveland to join the Lakers, grew up and acquired his education in Akron.
He hinted that he opened the institution in his home town to help Akron’s most underprivileged students and the disadvantaged ones to acquire education and material support there.
“It will as well provide their educational, career and emotionally support their parents. When we get the statistics ... years from now, we see a lot of these kids go off to College and start their own companies or give back to the community, things of that nature, will make us all proud," James said.
He added that: "Because that's what we're here for. We're a huge support group to these kids, we just want everything for them. Everything and more. So it's going to mean a lot to me."
