Online shopping firm doubles customers

ONLINE shoppers in Tanzania are increasing at an astonishing rate to drive growth of electronic commerce in Tanzania.
The number of online shoppers visiting Jumia, a leading online shopping platform in the country, doubled from 250,000 mid last year to 500,000 by end of May this year, according to the head of Marketing of the online firm, Albany James.

He told reporters that purchase of electronic goods such as mobile phones dominated online shopping in the platform by far.
The online shopping firm which is celebrating a six years of business in the country, would continue to improve online shopping services and drive growth in electronic commerce, he said.
The online shopping bazaar operate in 13 African nations, connecting to over 60,000 local African companies and individuals.
Mr James said as part of the celebration the firm has partnered with various companies who resell and distribute brands including infinix, Tecno, LG, Star X , TCL, Aborder, Philips, Fero, HP, Dell, Maybeline, Revlon and Nipotech.
