TANZANIA is set to benefit from international youth exchange programme with Germany in technical education to support the industrialisation drive.

The National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC) Executive Secretary Ms Beng’i Issa said after opening two-day workshop of stakeholders from Tanzania Youth Coalition (TYC) that Tanzania will reap enormous benefits from Germany rich in terms of knowledge and skills on technical education.

“The workshop is more focused on improving the programme since Germany is more advanced in terms of technical education and skills,” she said mentioning other countries taking part in the programme apart from Tanzania as South Africa and Benin.

Tanzanian youth will go to Germany for one year course to learn how their peers survive and later apply the knowledge and skills in establishing and developing processing industries.

Representative from the Germany Embassy, Mr Johannes Lauber said the government needs to be closer to youth through such programme so that they could gain experience in various fields for their development and the nation at large.

“Our government will continue to collaborate with Tanzania and in this programme young people from both countries will continue to have an exchange programmes with the aim to get experience and knowledge, “he said.

He said youth exchange programmes for African countries help young people engage in various issues and become an integral part of the development of their nations due to their contributions.

The former volunteer in the TYC programme Mr Humphrey Polepole pleaded youth going for the training course to put national interests first and become patriotic.

TYC Director, Mr Lenin Kazoba said the workshop was highly attended by various programme stakeholders to discuss how to improve the youth exchange programmes for sustainable learning environment to increase skills in national development.

“The aim of this workshop is to strengthen a strategy that will enable this programme to be more effective for youth to share skills and knowledge acquired,” he said.
