Gypsum is good ‘employer’, Same DC counsels youth

From QUEEN ISACK in Same
HAVING realised that the gypsum from Same district Kilimanjaro region has a higher quality than other parts of the country, youth have been urged to apply for mining licences to allow them to excavate the mineral as a way for overcoming unemployment.

Same District Commissioner (DC), Ms Rosemary Senyamule, told public meeting at Bendera ward, that young people should start searching for mining licences. “… Grace has come to the Same district …so our young people should be proud of it, and apply for mining licences in order to benefit from gypsum extraction … we realise that young people have been complaining about unemployment now the time has come to self-employed” the DC said.
She calls for ward leaders not to discourage people from carrying out development activities; rather, they should work together regardless of the political ideology of the parties as the development is not a party. She said: “ … we need young people to get jobs so I advise the ward leadership to cooperate together to allocate the mineral area for youth that will reduce the unemployment problem here”
DC Senyamule said in order to ensure the people do not miss out on such opportunity she would stay with the mining department so that they could provide education to people about the procedures for obtaining licences to ensure that they do not hesitate and delaying to get the licence.
However, the people complained to her about irregular distribution of irrigation water, whereupon the DC immediately asked experts to ensure they resolved the problem so that people may continue earning income from irrigation farming
