Shein commends Mainland, Zanzibar security collaboration

ZANZIBAR President, Dr Ali Mohamed Shein
PRESIDENT Ali Mohamed Shein yesterday commended security organs in both Zanzibar and Mainland Tanzania for working hard to reduce crime and keep the country peaceful for everyone.

However, Dr Shein urged the police, members of Tanzania Peoples’ Defence forces, members of the Zanzibar Security department (JKU, KMKM, MAFUNZO, Volantia, and ZIMAMOTO) and other units not to be complacent in combating crime and ensuring peace and stability.
Addressing senior officers from the Ministry of State (local administration and special department) at a meeting to evaluate the Ministry’s performance in the past quarter year (July to September), the President expressed government’s support to the forces for stability.
“We are happy to see the ongoing collaboration between Zanzibar security forces and that of the union in ensuring the country remains safe,” Dr Shein said, advising the ministry to engage in research as there are a lot to study.
The president told the meeting held at the State House and attended by the second vice president and top hierarchy of the special units that research remains crucial to move forward in development.
He emphasised on good planning, including collaboration between ‘rescue/fire brigade forces and ‘Zanzibar Water Authority (ZAWA) to ensure that the laid water pumps remain safe during the upcoming water project supported by the African Development Bank (ADB).
The Minister for local government, Mr Haji Omar Kheri, said they have taken into consideration the directives from the president, thanking him for his last July/August tour of all regions to inspect implementation of government programmes
