Peasant held over fake currency

POLICE have arrested a farmer in possession of 50 fake notes of 10,000/- nomination while attempting to transact through a mobile money operator at Soya village in Chemba District.

Dodoma Regional Police Commander (RPC) Gilles Muroto told reporters here yesterday that the suspect, identified as Hassan Ally (22) is being investigated at the District Police Station.
“Prior to his arrest, the suspect had been using the coun terfeit money to get different services and we had been tracing him for weeks after receiving a tip from good citizens,” said the RPC.
Mr Muroto pointed out that investigations into the matter were still going on to establish the entire syndicate behind the crime. In another incident, the police have impounded two stolen motorcycles, Boxer make, following a weeklong operation in the region.
RPC Muroto urged people with cases of stolen motorcycles to report to police station to establish their properties. Meanwhile, the police have arrested 46 suspects in connection with various crimes in Dodoma region.
RPC Muroto said the police arrested the villager in possession of a gun and two rounds of ammunition allegedly used in crimes in Kongwa District, saying the weapon was illegally possessed.
He said the villager, 34year old Tegemea Msauge, was arrested at Idaho village, Mlali ward, saying investigations into the matter were still continuing.
