RETIRED President, Ali Hassan Mwinyi is expecting to grace the 11th graduation ceremony of the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Science (MUHAS) on Saturday afternoon at the Muhimbili campus in Dar es Salaam.

event, the MUHAS Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Appolinary Kamuhabwa, said
361 of the 2016/ 2017 batch of 1,031 candidates are females, whose
number had been consistently rising.
“Our goal is to increase the number of
female graduates in the institution by encouraging female students to
enroll in various science courses, in order to increase female experts
in the health sector,” he said.
Prof Kamuhabwa said the second phase
president, who is also the Chancellor of MUHAS, will award diplomas and
degrees. Elaborating, he explained that 296 graduates will be awarded a
diploma in Health and Allied Science, and 13 will be awarded advanced
diplomas.
Four hundred and seventy eight graduates
will be awarded bachelor degrees in health and allied sciences, 231
master’s degrees of the same course and 12 graduates will receive
master’s degrees in super specialty.
Compared to last year, he said, the
number of graduates in the master’s programme had increased to 24 per
cent. “The increase is an outcome of the institution’s efforts to
introduce courses according to employment market demands,” he said.
He said due to the high demand of high
level health experts, the institution had been increasing masters
programmes. During the 2016/2017 academic year, master’s programmes had
been introduced in Histotechnology and Project Management, Monitoring
and Evaluation in Health fields, he added.
As part of the graduation festivities,
