Software giant Microsoft has partnered with international
strategy and policy advisory firm Dalberg to enable experts to meet and
discuss digital transformation.
The talks, dubbed
Digital Transformation Series, kicked off on Tuesday and will be held
regularly at Strathmore University’s Policy Innovation Centre.
“The
Digital Transformation Series puts into action what we set out to do
which is to provide a platform and an environment for policy nurturing,
discussion and creation.
The notion of the centre
creating a frontier for financial inclusion and faster economic growth
really looks set to become a reality through this,” said Microsoft
general manager for West, East, Central Africa and the Indian Ocean
islands Amr Kamel.
The sessions will run through 2018
and touch on topics that drive economic and social growth including
healthcare and government at the Strathmore Law School.
Microsoft
has financed the construction of the Policy Innovation Centre and will
be overseeing the talks while Dalberg will offer research and
consultancy services during the talks.
The Sh41.2
million facility is the first of its kind to be established outside
Microsoft office territory, the other two being in Brussels in Belgium
and Washington DC.
The centre will host academia,
industry, government and policy experts to discuss local policy
challenges and find solutions to them.
“Digital
disruption can be seen as one of the most prevalent and crucial
conversation in the continent today — through this, there is absolutely
no doubt that technology will continue to change the manner in which we
live,” said Mr Kamel.
