Dodoma receives another daily flight

Daily News Reporter in Dodoma
AS SALAAM Air has introduced a daily flight between Dar es Salaam and Dodoma, boosting the designated capital air transport outreach.

Dodoma Airport Manager, Mr Julius Mlungwana told the Daily News yesterday that AS Salaam Air has begun its operation with direct flight from the commercial city to Dodoma.
“The new airline is expected to fly daily to and from Dar es Salaam as it is stipulated in its operation licence,” he said. The airspace to and from Dodoma is currently dominated by Auric Air that fly daily to and from the commercial capital, Dar es Salaam.
Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) according to the Manager operates three flights a week. Mr Mlungwana said the airport expects to receive more airlines in few months to come amid completion of construction activities.
“The government is completing the expansion and renovation of Dodoma airport, we expect to receive more airlines upon the completion of the construction,” he said.
Early this year, Dodoma Airport opened a 24-hour domestic and international flights operation, just months after embarking on a 12 billion/- renovation plan - putting the capital into new hotspot for the aviation industry.
According to Mr Mlungwana, the renovation activities include runway and total expansion of the airport. However, Mr Mlungwana said his office is working hard to ensure all people who have been affected by the project are paid compensation. He admitted that some residents in Chanduhu village were yet to be compensated.
